Timberwolves host Rockets in Twin Cities

Basketball Betting Lines

02/04/2012 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Minnesota Timberwolves aim to reach the .500 mark tonight versus the Houston Rockets at the Target Center.

Minnesota is 11-12 on the season and has won seven of its last 11 games, including Friday's 108-105 triumph at New Jersey on Luke Ridnour's deciding three-pointer with 1:23 remaining in the game.

Nikola Pekovic added 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who have won three in a row on the road for the first time since April 3-8, 2009. Kevin Love also had a double-double with 20 points and 10 boards.

"This win was definitely a character builder because they learn what they have to do down the stretch of games," Timberwolves head coach Rick Adelman said. "The Nets have a lot of injuries but Morrow had it going and Deron Williams is a handful. Give our guys credit, they withstood it."

Ricky Rubio had 10 points and 10 assists for Minnesota, which shot 43.9 percent from the floor and got nine points from Ridnour. Michael Beasley and Wesley Johnson both had 10 points in the win.

The Timberwolves will play two straight and four of five games at home, and are 5-8 in the Twin Cities this season. They are still last in the Northwest.

Houston will kick off a six-game road trip tonight and is 3-7 as the guest. It ended a two-game slide and won for the 10th time in 13 tries with Friday's 99-81 victory versus Phoenix at the Toyota Center.

Kevin Martin led seven Houston players in double-digit scoring with 16 points, while Luis Scola had 14 points and eight rebounds. Chase Budinger, Patrick Patterson and Courtney Lee each contributed 12 points off the bench, and both Chandler Parsons and Goran Dragic scored 10 points.

"It feels great especially with our schedule coming up," Parsons said. "It was huge for us to come out and play the way we did, to really, really beat them the way we did. It was good. It was a confidence booster to come out here and stop the losing streak of two games."

The Rockets pushed their home record to 10-3 on the season. They will also visit the Nuggets, Blazers, Suns, Warriors and Grizzlies on the road swing.

Houston and Minnesota have split two meetings so far this season, but the Rockets have won 15 of the last 17 meetings. The Timberwolves are winless in the previous eight matchups held in Minneapolis.
